Klaus-Martin Treder (b. 1961 in Biberach) is showing new works at the Stadtgalerie in which he once again calls into question the boundary between painting and sculpture.
What we encounter on his canvases are drips and traces of paint, applied splashes blobs that deliberately avoid any claim to a painterly gesture. When the artist also puts hair, plastic lids, coffee beans, or gumdrops on his paintings, he sweeps aside the arrogance of an intellectualization of painting and, almost playfully, allows everyday life to penetrate his paintings.
