As of April 1, Katharina Ritter, M.A. is the new director of the Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken. She wants to structure the Stadtgalerie as a place of critical confidence. The freelance curator has led the Stadtgalerie on an interim basis since August 2020.

"I connect local issues with global developments. Exhibiting art is as important to me as working together for a better future. The urgent issues of our time are a common challenge that require connecting different competences."

Every two weeks, the Stadtgalerie, in partnership with Regionalverband Saarbrücken, prensents a new portrait of an artist based in Saarland. With texts, pictures and videos, these portraits aim to present in detail the work of ten artists from the region.

Focusing on the tentative, fleeting experience of living between different cultures, five artists explore narratives of immigrants traversing the no-man's land between home and hope.
