Inclusion in the Stadtgalerie

In January 2026, we will launch the third round of inclusive tours at the Stadtgalerie with three (future) art guides from reha gmbh – a project of the Stadtgalerie in cooperation with Katrin Kühn, the disability officer for the city of Saarbrücken, reha gmbh, Saskia Riedel, Carole Kaufmann and Mechthild Kreuser.

To our great delight, the project has been successfully completed for the third time in a row. In January 2026, three participants from reha gmbh completed a three-week training course. The training was led by project developers Carole Kaufmann and Saskia Riedel, with support from the Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken.

Jennifer Bungert, Olivier Guyon and Juliane Wagner accompanied visitors through the exhibition SUMM SUMM SUMM – curated by children and young people – in the third round.

The second round of the project ended in July 2025, with Jennifer Bungert and Olivier Guyon accompanying visitors through the exhibitions by Suzan Noesen and Mark Braun.

In December 2024 Jennifer Bungert, Luca Fiorenza and Marie Meyer completed a four-week training course in art guidance at the Stadtgalerie, coinciding with the exhibitions by Nora Wagner and Valentina Karga.

More about the project

The training was led by project developers Carole Kaufmann, Mechthild Kreuser and Saskia Riedel. The training venue was the Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken.

During the training, the participants learnt many different things: Who am I as an art guide? What does art education mean? How do I deal with stress? What constitutes art? They also developed their own criteria.

The art guides planned their tours based on what interested them about the exhibitions. This resulted in very personalised tours. Visitors were given the opportunity to gain a new perspective on the exhibitions and then engage in dialogue with the art guides.

The training was led in 2024 by project developers Carole Kaufmann, Mechthild Kreuser and Saskia Riedel. The training took place at the Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken.

In 2025 and 2026, the project will be continued by Saskia Riedel and Carole Kaufmann.

A short summary of the day and the project was shown on the Tagesthemen on 27 January 2025. On 28 January 2025, the report was shown on SR Info and Aktueller Bericht.

As a place of critical confidence, we work with many stakeholders to create a desirable future. Together with those involved, we are shaping cultural life in Saarbrücken on a more equal footing. We break down prejudices about people with (visible and invisible) disabilities.

This will not be the only inclusive guided tour day. We would like to continue the project and are already planning it. We'll keep you posted!

The inclusion project was realised in cooperation with Katrin Kühn, Commissioner for the Disabled of the state capital Saarbrücken, the Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken, reha gmbh and the project developers Carole Kaufmann (founder of dieKUNSTderINKLUSION), Mechthild Kreuser (founder of Inklusive Achtsamkeit) and Saskia Riedel (founder of arcs audio).

The first round was supported by the state capital Saarbrücken, the Ministry of Education and Culture, Saartoto and Sparda SüdWest.

The second and third rounds were sponsored by the state capital Saarbrücken.
